All is still quiet...

It is so rare that by 7 AM all three of the kids are still snuggled in bed.  I really had no idea when I started this motherhood adventure that you really never get to sleep again.  People warn you and warn you, but it is SO true.  Even on nights when they all sleep (which is rare) as a mommy you wake up expecting the nighttime visitor, checking on them if they don't find you first....and, then your body still wakes up early in anticipation of the early riser!

Last night (which is just a sample of so many of the last 2000 nights), I went to sleep at 10, Gray woke up writhing in pain at 11.  Poor boy was laying on the rug in the kitchen screaming when I finally got to him.  Leg cramps really have a way to pain my boys.  Olivia doesn't have this kind of thing, but oh the boys do!  I got him juice, blankets, rubbed and rubbed and rubbed his legs.  On the couch, in his bed, in my bed....then, finally my brain woke up and I remembered how nice a warm bath would feel if those were my legs.  So from 11:15-12:00 there I sat with Grayson in the warm bath playing with cups and toys.  In the end when I snuggled with him back in his bed, he rolled over and kissed me saying,"'You my best fwend."  HONESTLY, that little sweet voice made being woken up completely worth it.

I think at this point I can round up and say I am about 7 years into the no sleep journey.  I really don't envision this ending even when they are out of the house...I think I will just simply 'rest' worrying that they are safe.  7 years down, 70 to go!

ahhhh, fancy catching up on the elders. i totally agree with the whole middle-of-the-night nurturing. albeit tired, the satisfaction is amazing. and i lovelovelove/jealous/lovelovelove your new patio. i so want to come over and have a glass of wine with you while sitting our your lanai. and olivia in the tennessee picture...the one where she is "cooperating", i just die. she's still my elder favorite. love your ramblings. hollah!
