Week 3 of school= BIG changes!

Dylan:  As we expected, Dylan's teacher had her baby over the weekend.  He started Tuesday morning with a new, yet very experienced, face.  Mrs. Detter is a tenured and retired second grade teacher.  Dylan has reported various observations about his new teacher:
  • FRIDAY- "She speaks with a quiet voice, and is a little nicer than Mrs. Harrington from my Kindergarten."
  • TUESDAY- "She looks like my Grandma, but isn't as nice as my Grandma!"
  • WEDNESDAY- "She put me on yellow, and two kids on red because she is cranky and mean.  I want my other teacher back."
I can only imagine how today will go, at this rate I will be getting a phone call before noon....(fingers crossed that he starts embracing this transition, QUICKLY!)

Olivia:  Months ago we submitted paperwork to enroll Olivia in VPK at Dylan's elementary school, but due to capacity issues we have been on a waiting list.  So for months I have made it my part-time job to call the school board office and check on the status of the waiting-list.  Miss Vielka and I have been on a first name basis for at least 12 weeks. :) Finally, last Thursday we got the call.  Olivia had a spot at Virgil Mills Elementary, and we took it!  After going through the paperwork process from hell, she was ready to start at 10:00AM Tuesday morning.  She We all couldn't be happier to have both kids in one place.  Not only are the teachers amazing, educated, experienced, and patient....but, it cuts down my driving time by about an hour a day!!  Woohoo, saving on gas and time is a plus.  As usual Olivia had something to say about the transition:
  • FRIDAY- "Saying goodbye to my old school is okay.  I'm over it here. They can throw my crafts out, I'm going to a real school now."
  • TUESDAY-
    • (to the lady at the front desk at the Early Learning Coalition where we had to get her paperwork completed) "Why do we have to wait soooo long here, I have to get to school and meet some new friends?"
    • (to me) "No, I didn't remember to miss you this time either.  Sorry, I was busy playing."
  • WEDNESDAY- "I played on the swings with two girls today and they gave me the option to be their new best friend.  I said yes."
Option??? Seriously?  She is too much!!!
