There are several!

Last weekend we had a nasty, ever-lasting tropical storm.  It was so difficult to drain ALL of the childrens' energy within the confines of our house.  But the storm was also a little forgiving in that the rain started and stopped about every 30 minutes for roughly 3 days.  We knew we had to get the kids out so did it simple, walked them right out front during the 30 minute windows.  We went for brief walks, threw the baseball, and tinkered in the yard, until the major downpour re-started...then we ran inside.

During one of our walks, Olivia 'schooled' me on some vocabulary.  She decided that it would be nice to collect leaves (since they were EVERYWHERE in the storm).  I thought we should get a sample of the different types of leaves so that when we got back to the house we could etch them on some of our neon paper.  Olivia diligently picked out leaves for herself, her brothers, and her Daddy.  Her last batch had 5 leaves, she told/asked me, "This has several leaves.  do you know what several means?"  To which I said yes.  She didn't believe me, so she explained, "Several is more than a few and more than a couple.  It is larger than 3...like us.  We have 5 in our family.  This branch has 5, like our family."

sometimes she amazes me, more than words can explain
