"let me handle this"

this evening, Dylan and Olivia were doing the usual boycott-bedtime routine. After many attempts to keep them contained, I brought out the artillery and threatened to "TAKE THE INKY" if Olivia came out again. Dylan is shockingly mature these days. He stopped me, got in the middle, and announced.. "Mommy, I can handle this. Let me get her in bed. Don't get in serious mode." To which any normal parent would say, 'no, no, no. I can get her in bed. You are the child, I am the parent.' No, not me. Instead, I gave in to his magical powers and told him to get her in bed. :) It worked and they were asleep within 5 minutes, my preferred approach would not have been as effective.
