Giving my 'little kids' a bath tonight the convo was so funny, I thought...I have to capture this. But, where?!?!? Oh, that's right...I have this thing called a blog from 2007. Thanks for being here still Mr. Blog. I promise, I'm back.
Olivia made me laugh and feel a little sad tonight, when I realized how much of reality has been bestowed upon her during her 9 months of main-stream education. She dropped a few bombs on me tonight during said, 'bath'.
Olivia: "How did you know to 'like' daddy?"
Me: "I love your daddy."
Olivia: "Well, if you love daddy...how did you break up with your other boyfriends?!?!"
Me: "We can discuss that when you're older."
Olivia: "Well, where do babies come from?"
Me: "They come from your tummy."
Olivia: "How do they get there?"
Me: "Mommies and Daddies love each other and then a baby is formed in their tummy"
Olivia: "Well, why don't all kids have daddy's?!?! Like XYZ kids at school?!?!"
Me: "Sometimes, it's not just a mommy and daddy, but two people who love each other."
Olivia: "Just like Abby at school. Her daddy left when she was not born."
UMMMMMM....how do i save her innocence here?!?1
Me: "All children are special. One parent, one grandparent, two dads, two moms, or a mom and dad...Abby is loved, that is what matters."
Olivia: "So, are we always staying together?"
Me: "Yes, no matter what!"
Love her...and us!
