Dylan is 6!

It's so hard to believe that Dylan is 6. Per my recent 'Pumping in Ireland' post, it really seems like those days are so close that I could still touch and smell them. But, surprisingly that's not the case. The truth is that Dylan is closing in on the end of Kindergarten and now officially 6 years old. It is weird yet exciting to me, but for some reason at age 6 he seems like a more rational person. Almost like a mini-adult in the household. He clearly understands right from wrong, and most times can explain the rationale behind what defines those two 'states of being'. Dylan is still a lover, hates dissension and only lashes out (mostly toward Olivia or Daddy :) when he is tired). This boy is so special to us, it is amazing. My heart flutters when he starts to tell a story and gets lost in his dramatic facial expressions and hand gestures. We love our Dylan, what a gift! On to the birthday...

I'm not a big birthday party person, as with Gray and Olivia's birthdays this year we did not have a formal party. As a family we decided that a day at a theme park would be money better spent. Dylan was no exception, so off to LegoLand we went. Dylan is a stud in life. Unafraid of spiders, dirt, danger, weapons...you name it!! Until you get to the 'R' section of biggest fears and you find roller coasters. Then poor lil' Dylan freaks out and starts screaming (like a girl, which we would never tell him in real life).

Well, we conquered that fear at his 6th birthday celebration at LegoLand. During the final moments at the park we convinced Dylan to ride the 36" and up roller coaster. Even Grayson was able to ride with us, and we all SURVIVED! It was a beautiful, bonding moment! :)

(Below) You may not be able to see it, but the NC Elders sent Dylan a helicopter. After we got home from Music on Main Street, the package was at the front door. This toy is so FUN! Even the adults get into flying it.
