Grayson's Birth Story

The doctors said I was due on 10.30, but i KNEW they were wrong (as with the other two babies) and 'revised' my due date to 10.28. When 10.28 came and went, I was then certain that I would never have this baby. It is crazy how impatient pregnant women get in that last week or so. I went for a 2 mile walk on 10.28 (which nearly killed me due to constant contractions), and then on 10.29 decided to give up and just wait out until 11.1, at which point I would try Leslie's Castor Oil method.

Then it happened. On 10.29 at 11 AM while in Lisa's hot tub (not too hot), I started having contractions. I was very surprised and not sure if these were real, because with Dylan and Olivia I went into labor at night. I went home to John and we started packing and planning. By 1 PM they were 12-15 minutes apart, and by 2PM they were 5-7 minutes apart. Lisa came over with Brayden and Emma to watch the kids, and at 3:30 we left for the hospital.

At the hospital, we were checked into triage a little after 4 and they confirmed that we were barely 4 cm. I was a little shocked b/c when we checked in with Olivia we were already 7-8 cm. At that point I made the executive decision to get the epidural. It was almost 6:30 before they actually gave it to me, and by then i was only 5 cm. I KNEW I had made the right decision. I was wimping out, but given how raw the memories are for me from Olivia's birth...i couldn't imagine voluntarily going through that again.

Grayson was born at 9:28 PM, following a small amount of pitocin at 8:45 and only 5 minutes of pushing. He was just perfect and barely cried the entire first night. It was this moment that reminded me of why pregnancy and babies can be addictive. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THOSE FIRST MOMENTS... NOTHING :) But, nonetheless the shop is closed. Three is more than enough to fill our hearts and home.
